SOUTH BOSTON, Va. - Haus Motorsports driver Lindsey Trausch headed into Saturday's USAC Carolina Ford Focus Midget Series event at South Boston Speedway located in South Boston, Va. looking to improve on her 16th place finish in the season. After torrential down pours canceled qualifying and one of the series' two scheduled practice sessions, Trausch would start the feature in the 13th spot based on the current points standings.
"I had a great car during our practice session and really wish we could have gotten qualifying in because I know we could have started a lot better than 13th, but that's how things go sometimes," commented Trausch, pilot of the teams LunaseaMedia Productions-backed Stealth. "During practice the car would go wherever I wanted it to so I was very excited to race."
With the weather delaying the days events, the Focus cars were bumped from the first feature to the last show of the evening when temperatures where the mid-40s, leaving a cold, slick track for the open wheel machines. Starting on the inside of row seven, Trausch would fight a loose race car the entire 25-lap event but managed to hold on to a 13th place finish.
"Thirteenth certainly isn't where we had hoped to finish but under the circumstances, I can't complain," explained Trausch. "Had we not made the call to lower the tire pressure before the feature we may not have been so loose but its hard to tell what the tires will do in those temperatures.
"Every outing is a learning experience for us and we are going in the right direction as far as both driving and tuning goes," Trausch continued. "With only five midget races under my belt I really can't be too hard on myself. The key is to keep learning and applying what we learn then the finishes will follow."
Following a dirt test session at East Lincoln Speedway in Stanley, N.C., Haus Motorsports will makes its next stop with the series on Friday, May 6 at Friendship Motor Speedway, located in Elkin, N.C.
