SPARTA, KY - Following the rescheduled July 4 Friendship Motor Speedway event that left Lindsey Trausch unable to compete, the Carolina Ford Focus Midget Series rookie of the year contender was anxious to get back behind the wheel as the Series headed to the Kentucky Speedway in Sparta, Ky. for a duel points event with the Midwest Series on the tracks infield 1/4-mile, slightly banked asphalt oval. After struggling on flat tracks in the past, Trausch and her Haus Motorsports team looked to Calico Coating's Gary Huffman for set-up advise which help the team be fast off the trailer.
"We struggled last week at Friendship [Motor Speedway] on the little time we got on the flat track so we asked Gary what we could do to make the car better as we headed to Kentucky," commented Trausch, driver of the LunaseaMedia Productions Stealth. "With Gary's help we were fast out of the gate which helped me concentrate on driving."
With starting positions for the four heat races being determined by pill draw, Trausch would start on the inside of row two of the third heat and bring the car home in the forth position, guaranteeing her a spot in the 25 lap feature event where she would start in the 16th position. When the green flag would fall, Trausch would move up one position on the one-grooved race track and finish in the 15th position leaving team owner Chris Trausch happy with the days results.
"Since Lindsey was unable to compete in last weeks event, we knew we needed a solid finish today in hopes of making the National Championships in September based on owner points," remarked Chris Trausch, owner of Haus Motorsports. "We had two goals coming in to the race; advance to the feature without competing in the semi and have the car on four wheels after the race. Fortunately we accomplished both goals, which definitely helps us in owner points. Now we'll just have to see if it was enough to earn the wild card into the Championships."
After a three-week stint in Carolina Ford Focus Midget Series action, Haus Motorsports will head to Tri-County Raceway on Friday, July 29 in hopes of redeeming themselves after a fuel injection problem prevented the team from competing in the Series first stop at the track.
"I'm real excited to head back to Tri-County," continued Lindsey Trausch. "It was really disappointing to miss the featured in May due to fuel injection problems so hopefully we can have better luck this time and keep our momentum going following Kentucky."
