CHARLOTTE, N.C. - In their first full season of Carolina Ford Focus Midget Series action, Lindsey Trausch and her Haus Motorsports team have earned the right to compete in the Inaugural USAC Ford Focus Midget National Championship Run-off to be held September 16-17 at Limaland Motorsports Park located in Lima, Ohio and the Anderson Speedway located in Anderson, Ind. This unique two-day, dirt and asphalt event is invitation only and will seed USAC Ford Focus Midget teams from all across the United Stated against each other to crown USAC's overall Ford Focus Midget National Champion.
"I can't even begin to explain how happy I am that we got invited to participate in the first event of its kind," exclaimed Lindsey Trausch, driver of the Haus Motorsports, LunaseaMedia Productions Stealth. "This was definitely one of the goals we wanted to achieve in our rookie season but with all of the hurdles we have had recently I wasn't quite sure we could pull it off."
With hopes of competing in each of the Series events in 2005, Trausch would be unable to start the May 6 feature at Tri County Speedway due to fuel injection problems. Over coming that DNS would have a strong run at the following event at the South Boston Speedway before a first lap accident would keep the team from finishing the Series only dirt event of the year at East Lincoln Speedway. Climbing her way back up in the points standings, Trausch would have yet another blow when the July 3 event at Friendship Motor Speedway was rescheduled for July 4, a day which Trausch could not race.
"When the rain caused them to reschedule the race at Friendship on the Forth of July I thought for sure our chances at the run-off were done," Trausch explained. "Working at National Speed Sport News, we have a very tight Monday deadline so I was unable to miss work so Brian Moates stepped in and drove the car so we could gain owner points. As difficult as it was to have someone else in the car, that is probably the one thing that kept us in the hunt and I can't thank Brian enough for his help.
"We still have three Carolina Series events before the run-off so we can't put all of our focus into that," continued Trausch. "Its my goal that we can have three strong races and do plenty of testing so we can be as prepared as possible to make the trek to the Midwest. It should be exciting and I can't wait. This is good exposure for Ford Focus Midget racing and all of the sponsors involved so hopefully we can go up there and have a strong showing."
